Alchemy

There is an energy that permeates my work that is beyond aesthetics. It has its roots in Alchemy. Though traditionally referring to the process of transmuting base metals into gold Alchemy is, more broadly, the raising of the vibration of something.
I believe these transformative forces act upon the jeweller him/herself:
'Beyond Prophecies and Predictions' by Moira Timms

"The latter (experimenter), under the influence of the forces emitted by the crucible, ie radiations emitted by the nuclei undergoing changes in structure... enters himself into a new state. His intelligence and and his powers are raised to another level"

Alchemy gives another depth to jewellery in that it ascribes to the piece certain power. My personal understanding of the Talisman has developed from the object of potential to the object being a vessel for my own potential. . I realize that as my creation, it can hold no power that i do not give it. I claim therefore that all of my jewellery is Talismanic in that it is made with love and received in appreciation.. this I see as alchemy in that it (ideally) causes pleasure to those concerned and therefore 'raises their vibration'.
The key is sustainability. The transformation must be continuous for it to be true Alchemy. This is where aesthetics (and wearability) step in. The object is more effective if visually able to capture our attention, being vital in Alchemy as this 'focus' is where the power lies. It is therefore easier to appreciate the object if we find it aesthetically pleasing. One of the ways of holding attention is through the use of Sacred Geometry when considering the design of the piece.

Sacred Geometry

Sacred geometry involves sacred universal patterns used in the design of everything in our reality.

"the symbolic of the underlying metaphysical principle of the inseparable relationship of the part to the whole. It is this principle of oneness underlying all geometry that permeates the architecture of all form in its myriad diversity. This principle of interconnectedness, inseparability and union provides us with a continuous reminder of our relationship to the whole, a blueprint for the mind to the sacred foundation of all things created".
